DIY Christmas gift idea: maple popcorn with pecans

Homemade treats are always very personal and special. We have an easy and delicious popcorn recipe for you. If you fill it in a cute Christmassy bag it will be the perfect gift for a person you care about. If you like, add some cinnamon or ginger bread spice to the caramel which gives a warm note just right for this season.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tsp butter

  • 1 Tsp happy maple Goût Robuste (for a nice caramell note)

  • 50g pecans, lightly crushed

  • salt

  • 100g popcorn, corresponds to ~2 Tsp of popcorn kernels

  • optional: cinnamon or ginger bread spice

How to

  1. Melt butter over medium heat in a small saucepan while stirring constantly. Once melted, the butter will begin to foam and sizzle around the edges. Keep stirring. In about 3 minutes, the butter will turn golden brown.

  2. Add maple syrup and stir to combine.

  3. Add pecans and cook, stirring, until a caramel forms and thickens enough to briefly leave a trail when a spoon is scraped along the bottom of the saucepan, about 4 minutes. Season with salt.

  4. Place popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and drizzle caramel mixture and nuts all over, mix well (you might use a bowl with a lid so you can shake it up), until popcorn is evenly coated in caramel.

  5. Season with salt, if necessary.

  6. Refrigerate popcorn until caramel is set, about 10 minutes.

  7. Toss to break up any clumps and serve.
